A step-by-step course on creating the foundation for seasonal attractions through the power of words. Theme parks and large-scale production companies require detailed analyses that define and articulate creative visions. With most theme parks around the globe hosting Halloween events, the emphasis of this course will delve into the dark shadows of storytelling within the themed entertainment industry. Using analytical thought and creative writing, students will gain the tools necessary to help scare and thrill brave theme park goers. Pack your wooden stakes, silver bullets, and get ready to write!
As students you will obtain a fundamentally sound understanding of how large-scale Halloween theme park attractions are written in the form of treatments, scripts, and synopses. Through the course, students will learn Halloween theme park attraction writing/presentation basics in drafting portions of a standard attraction (maze/haunted house), theatrically driven escape experience and free roaming horror experience, all focused on maintaining theme park expectations in terms of quality, presentation and professionalism.
